Scores of woman are killed every year with the count on the raise. In this day and age it tends to surprise some. But what is even more surprising and disgusting is that many of these killings are done by educated men. Men who walk amongst you and me wearing jeans and puma shoes, not old withered senile man.
Honor killings involves two people who profess to be in love and the entire community goes against them. Where it turns your kith and kin , your father and mother to monsters. What are these people against? Their son and daughter? Caste? No. These are excuses.
If you scratch away the top layer you will find the age old reason. The primeval reason for every ones survival-Love. They are against love, an emotion. They hate the emotion. What kind of men are they?
But wait a minute this is only part of the whole thing. Honor killing happens for various other reasons too.
Such "immoral behavior" may take the form of marital infidelity, refusing to submit to an arranged marriage, demanding a divorce, flirting with or receiving phone calls from men, failing to serve a meal on time, or -- grotesquely -- "allowing herself" to be raped. In the Turkish province of Sanliurfa, one young woman's "throat was slit in the town square because a love ballad was dedicated to her over the radio."
The horror stories continue still. Its time for every one to take a stand. Countless stories and countless horror stories have been written and seen. Brothers killing sisters, girl buried alive, father killing daughter the stories go on.
Come on humans, wake up. Let us stop this gruesome killings NOW. Before the entire woman race is wiped out in the name of 'honor', if you find any that is. Because if this happens the human race comes to an end.
